Statement Concerning COVID-19
(Rev 5-29-2020)
(Rev 4-2-2020)
April 1, 2020
For Thor Construction LLC, the health and safety of our employees and subcontractors is the top priority.
The following are proactive steps that we can all take to help prevent the transmission and spread of the Coronavirus and minimize any disruption and health issues to our ongoing construction projects.
All employees and subcontractors on all our projects are encouraged to practice the healthy habits listed below.
STAY HOME IF YOU FEEL SICK
- Avoid close contact with others and seek medical treatment if necessary.
- If you have a fever, stay home until you are fever-free for at least 72 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
- Those who exhibit symptoms associated with COVID-19 (fever, cough, tiredness), should seek medical attention. Calling the Doctor office is a good first step. These individuals need to have a note/letter from the medical facility stating that they can return to work.
PRACTICE GOOD HAND HYGIENE THROUGHOUT THE WORKDAY
- Wash your hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- Use an alcohol-based sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol, if soap and water are not available.
PRACTICE GOOD COUGHING AND SNEEZING ETIQUETTE
- Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
- Put your used tissue in a wastebasket
AVOID TOUCHING YOUR EYES, NOSE AND MOUTH
AVOID UNNECESSARY ATTENDANCE AT GATHERINGS OR MEETINGS INVOLVING 10 OR MORE PEOPLE
SHOWER AND CHANGE CLOTHES PRIOR TO ENGAGING WITH FAMILY MEMBERS UPON RETURNING HOME IN THE EVENINGS. WORK CLOTHES SHOULD BE WASHED AT LEAST DAILY
- While Thor Construction LLC believes the listed habits to be good practice, we encourage any and all employees and subcontractors to stay updated with the most recent recommendations from the World Health Organization (https://www.who.int/) and the Center for Disease Control (https://www.cdc.gov/).
SITE SPECIFIC PROCEDURES
SITE TOOLBOX TALKS AND COMMUNICATIONS- (Each contractor on site is encouraged to perform routine site toolbox talks at the beginning of the shift).
- Frequent Toolbox Talks to update workers and share information regarding health- (perform outside and in multiple small groups/keep social distancing). Any information regarding any COVID infections or exposures on the project should be shared in writing with the Thor Superintendent and Project Manager
- Each contractor should communicate frequently to their workers on site
SITE CONTROLS- (In addition to Thor Construction Standard Safety for Construction Sites)
- All contractors are to clean and sanitize equipment, tools and PPE frequently as needed to safely perform their work
- Each Contractor should schedule their own
- Each contractor should increase vigilance towards their own sanitation
- All subcontractors shall maintain satisfactory cleaning, removal and policing of the construction site per Thor Construction’s Subcontract Agreement.
TEMPORARY FACILITIES
- In instances where Thor Construction LLC is providing temporary facilities, (toilets, etc.), Thor Construction LLC will work with our suppliers to request an increase in the number of times the facilities are cleaned.
INDIVIDUAL POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
- Each contractor should maintain their own policies and procedures of best practices for their own areas of expertise and should keep a copy of this document on file with Thor’s Superintendent and Project Manager
